Mandevco utilises the ADDIE model to design learning solutions. ADDIE is an Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model which consists of 5 phases: Analysis, Design, Development,
Implementation and Evaluation. ADDIE represents a dynamic, flexible guideline for building effective training and performance support tools.
The analysis phase
In the analysis phase, the instructional problem is clarified, the instructional goals and objectives are established and the learning environment and learner's existing knowledge and skills are identified. We typically address some
of these questions during the analysis phase:
- Who is the audience and what are their characteristics?
- What is the desired new behavioural outcome?
- What types of learning constraints exist?
- What are the delivery options?
- What are the pedagogical considerations?
- What is the timeline for project completion?
The design phase
The design phase deals with learning objectives, assessment instruments, exercises, content, subject matter analysis, lesson planning and media selection.
The design phase includes:
- Agreement on the project's instructional, visual and technical design approach
- Apply instructional strategies according to the intended behavioral outcomes
- Design the user interface and user experience
- Create and test a prototype
- Apply visual design (graphic design)
The development phase
The development phase is where instructional designers and developers create and assemble the content assets that were blueprinted in the design phase. In this phase, storyboards are created, content is written and graphics are designed. If e-Learning is involved, programmers work to develop and/or integrate technologies. Testers perform debugging procedures. The project is reviewed and revised according to any feedback given.
Offerings include:
- Development of classroom or workshop-based materials and assessments
- Development of on-line / e-Learning materials and assessments
- Custom-built components to supplement these, based on specific requirements and available technology
- Video
- Music
- Television broadcasts
- Computer animations
- Mobile learning
- Knowledge portals
- Electronic FAQ mechanisms
- SMS / text technology
- Development of support material like quick reference cards, posters and display media, facilitator tools
- Development of performance support tools
The implementation phase
The implementation phase is when the learning solution is rolled out to the learner base.
We believe that our clients and their internal support structures are best equipped to implement learning solutions (for long-term sustainability). We design our solutions so that they can be implemented with or without our assistance, based on client preference and resourcing models.
However, fully outsourced solutions are available if this is the preferred option.
The evaluation phase
The evaluation phase measures whether the initiative has met its objectives.
Offerings include:
- Design of MIS and measurement tools
- Linking formative and summative learning assessments into the overall project / initiative’s success measurements
- Determining whether the change is being embedded
- Determining areas of success and areas for improvement
